Governor Crists' Proposal for State-approved Health Coverage in Florida

Florida's 3.8 million residents without health insurance could have the option to purchase state-approved coverage from private insurers at almost half the cost, under a plan advocated by Gov. Charlie Crist.

According to a recent survey by the National Business Group of Health, nine out of ten U.S. workers with a health condition look to sources other than their physician for advice. The findings were based on the responses of 1,588 workers between the ages of 22 and 69.

Safety - 20 Tips to Help Prevent Medical Errors in Children

 Medical errors are one of the Nation's leading causes of death and injury. Rates of medication errors and adverse drug events for hospitalized children were comparable to rates for hospitalized adults in a 2001 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association. However, the rate for potential adverse drug events was three times higher in children, and substantially higher still for babies in neonatal intensive care units. Studies of medical errors outside the hospital are just getting underway.
